Force Tempo Traveller meets visitors from the UK at Delhi airport with a driver and a written fare. London to Delhi is about nine hours in the air, which is a lot easier on the body than a journey from the Americas, and the time difference is smaller too. That changes how you can plan the first day, and it is what this guide is about.
Check your own flight times with your airline. Send us the flight number and we plan the pickup around the real landing time.
Landing at Delhi airport
You will land at Indira Gandhi International (DEL). Most international airlines use Terminal 3, but check your boarding pass.
Plan for an hour or more before you are outside, then a drive of 30 to 60 minutes to central Delhi, longer in rush hour. The driver is at arrivals with your name and follows your flight.
Flights and the time difference
India is 5 hours 30 minutes ahead of UTC all year. From the UK that is 4 hours 30 minutes ahead while the clocks are on summer time, and 5 hours 30 minutes ahead in winter. The shift is small enough that many travellers sightsee on day one if they slept on the plane.
Even so, keep the first afternoon light and save the first long drive for the next day.
Documents and what to carry
Check the current Indian visa rules for your passport on the official Indian government e-Visa portal before booking. Keep your visa approval and passport together, and carry your itinerary and our contact details. You do not need an international driving permit, because the driver comes with the vehicle.
Planning your first days from Delhi
Because the flight is shorter, many UK visitors go straight into a Golden Triangle plan: Delhi to Agra (about 233 km) and Delhi to Jaipur (about 280 km). A winter trip suits those routes best; the plains are hot from late spring.
Send us the whole plan and we will quote it as a multi-day booking with one driver, so you meet the same person on every day.
Choosing a tempo traveller on arrival
Most international visitors book a 12 seater or 15 seater for family groups and a Maharaja luxury tempo traveller for comfort-first trips. Smaller parties choose the 9 seater. Fares are quoted in Indian rupees with a written fare before you travel; see the full fleet and airport transfers.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the flight from the UK to Delhi?
About nine hours nonstop. Flights with a stop take longer. Confirm times with your airline.
Is the time difference between the UK and India always the same?
No. India has no daylight saving, so the gap is 4 hours 30 minutes while the UK is on summer time and 5 hours 30 minutes in winter.
Can you pick me up if my flight is delayed?
Yes. The driver follows the actual landing time of the flight number you give us.
Do I need an international driving permit?
No. Every booking includes a professional driver, so you do not need to drive in India.
Is the fare agreed before I fly?
Yes. We confirm availability and send a written quotation before you travel.
